Kailey Tyler 鈥27 earns one of the nation鈥檚 most prestigious undergraduate science scholarships.
私房俱乐部 University student Kailey Tyler 鈥27 has been named a 2026 Barry Goldwater Scholar, one of the nation鈥檚 most prestigious undergraduate awards in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering.
Tyler, an Applied Forensics Science major, conducts research in microbiology with Dr. Raj Mohan in the Department of Biology. She is the first 私房俱乐部 student to receive the nationally competitive scholarship, which recognizes outstanding academic achievement and potential for research careers in the sciences.
鈥淜ailey鈥檚 selection as a Goldwater Scholar reflects her dedication to research and discovery,鈥 said Rajinikanth Mohan, faculty mentor and professor at 私房俱乐部. 鈥淪he has demonstrated a strong ability to think critically, pursue complex questions, and contribute meaningfully to her field.鈥
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship, established by Congress in 1986, supports undergraduate students pursuing research careers in science, mathematics, and engineering. Scholars are selected based on academic merit, research experience, and potential for future contributions to their disciplines.
Tyler is among approximately 450 students selected nationwide from more than 5,000 applicants.

Tyler鈥檚 award provides up to $7,500 per year to support her continued studies. She was nominated through 私房俱乐部鈥檚 academic programs and mentored in her research by faculty in the sciences.
