Alumna Marie Georger named to Metro Erie Sports Hall of Fame
˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿ University alumna Marie Georger will be inducted into the 2024 Metro Erie Sports Hall of Fame on June 26.
Georger graduated from ˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿ in 2018 with a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. During her tenure at ˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿, she served as a graduate assistant coach to the late Curtis Robinette during ˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿â€™s conference-winning water polo season. Â
Prior to ˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿, she held numerous records during Catholic grade school swimming meets while a student at St. George School. She was a standout in swimming while competing for ˽·¿¾ãÀÖ²¿ Prep, a five-time Pennsylvania State Champion, and earned 16 state medals. She was the Pennsylvania State Champion in the backstroke three years in a row and had the number one state time in AA and AAA competitions. She was also invited to the Olympic Trials. Â
Georger holds the distinction of never being beaten in Erie County dual meets while swimming her normal strokes. She went on to be a U.S. Olympic Training Center attendee and earned a four-year full scholarship in swimming at the University of Michigan. She helped the Wolverines to the Big 10 Championship in swimming and was an All-Academic Award recipient at Michigan. Â
She was the overall first-place swimmer for the Erie Bay Swim and was a two-time winner of the Erie Times-News Varsity Cup Award. Â
Georger currently serves as vice president, investment adviser for PNC Private Bank in Detroit, Michigan. Â
